Just browsing the net and found someone else with the same problem as me. I know several people who live locally too me who have freeview and it works fine, so I've just taken this guy's attitude and figured "what the hell" and have bought one anyway ;-)
I'll let you know if it works and if the Freeview website is spouting bollocks!

Well Freeview does indeed work - after a fashion. It doesn't pick up the extra BBC and ITV channels, but at least it finds Sky News, E4 and a couple of other channels. So at least I now have once again got access to a 24-hour news station.
